What if I do not know my exact birth time?

A birth date and a birth time do different jobs

A birth date is enough for date-based numerology and other symbolic calculations that do not use the position of the horizon. An exact time becomes important when a report calculates the Ascendant, Midheaven, houses or fast-moving chart angles. The useful question is therefore not whether every report needs a time, but whether the specific method you chose depends on it.

Do not replace an unknown time with noon

Entering 12:00 simply to complete a form creates false precision. The resulting houses and angles can look exact even though they are based on an invented input. If a service offers a time-unknown option, it should visibly limit or omit time-sensitive sections instead of presenting an estimated chart as a calculated fact.

Where to look for the original time

Start with the long-form birth certificate or hospital record rather than a family memory. Depending on the country, a civil registry, hospital archive, family baby book or contemporaneous announcement may hold the time. Ask relatives for the source of their memory and record whether they mean an exact clock time or only a broad period such as early morning.

What a broad time range can and cannot do

A range such as “between 6 and 8 a.m.” can help an experienced reader identify which placements remain unchanged across the interval, but it is not equivalent to an exact time. If the Ascendant or a house cusp changes within that window, those sections should stay explicitly uncertain. A transparent report distinguishes stable calculations from conditional possibilities.
